Wow, you sound exactly like me! I was just diagnosed with narcolepsy w/ EDS two months ago. I have just turned 21 and am also in my last year of university. I've always been an A student, but these past few years I've been a C-D student, on academic probation, slept through exams, slept through class, slept through work! It has ruined my life socially and academically.

My neurologist put me on Provigil upon my diagnosis two months ago. I'm on the highest dose - 200mg twice daily. I still cant wake up or stop falling asleep! Every time i go to study, boom, i'm out :) Guess i have to study standing up?! My summer hours have been a bit harsh due to full time work and 2 summer classes. But this upcoming school year is going to be scheduled out. Only 3 days of full time work and 2 days of full time school.

I dont know what to do, there are no other treatments than provigil. Plus, god knows what future effects it will have on my body or my children when I get married! Nobody understands how difficult this disease is...

Glad you guys are around, i can relate to your posts. Let me know other new info if possible. What bout Xyrem? but that's for cataplexy correct?

thanks all :)
- Julie
