About narcolepsy

Posted by Barry on August 11, 2002 at 05:22:00:

I have suffered from narcolepsy more than 10 years. According to the feeling of me and one of my friends who also has this disease, sleep attacks are strong and active processes, not for wake state in day turning weak. And their mechanism and feeling is different from that of night-sleep. Before waking up refreshed from nap caused by sleep attack, we get a short-time deep sleep-->such as nodding the head and/or dropping saliva. What substance changing level in patients' brain supports the refreshed state after nap if Hypocretin has already been damaged permanently by an autoimmune factor due to the theory for the cause of narcolepsy? Are there any other substances(such as some neurotransmitters) that may change their level when sleep attacks occur and after taking a nap for involving in the mechanism of sleep attack? Paying more attention to the substance changes for sleep attacks is effective in narcolepsy and other related sleep disorders research.
