You are missing the mark a bit. Hypocretin does not promote wakefulness itself, it is involved with the regulation of sleep and wake. Big difference.

The neurotransmitters that are involved with wakefulness are norepinephrine, dopamine, acetylcholine, histamine, glutamate and other peptides.

Don't really think this has anything to do with the goals of the forum as I read them. This type of discussion should take place on more scientific type forums which can be found by doing a google search on the web.
