Spot, I feel for you and your son. I'm 42 and traced my symptoms back to around age 20 or 21. However, my life has been strange from the start and don't know if it is all connected. I had many nightmares when I was 4 or 5 years old. Don't know if those were HH or just nightmares or not connected with N at all. I also had these weard "panic attacks" that started at the same age where I would suddently think about dying and totally freak out. This continued for years. As a young kid, it was very scary. I was always clumsy and can see now that sometimes falling or knee "knocking" was probably cataplexy. Also have depression and have had problems with anger most of my life. Check out the law called IDEA - it's a law that covers disability in kids and education related issues. You might get some help through that. Sorry, can't remember what the acronym stands for. N has been very hard on me. I think it's great you figured this out for him at this young of an age. Most of my problems with the illness are called "psyco-social" and deal with socializing (or lack of!), problems working, going to school, etc. Knowing this now about your son, you have saved him YEARS of heartache and despair. Hang in there. I wouldn't mind emailing off line - but believe there is a restriction on posting our email addresses on the forum - so not sure how to get you direclty
