Barry - I know I'm far from being a scientist and N is so puzzling - it seems to me that since the hypocretin is already "gone" in our brains and that the sleep attacks occur because we are lacking this protein, i.e. people who have the protein don't experience this. My understanding that this is the only substance in our brains affected. Our bodies are so messed up, we always feel tired, so we sleep, feel refreshed for a little while and the cycle repeats itself, all due to lack of hypocretin. Just my two cents!
