(I'm Peg - there is also a Peggy writing in.)
I took Dexadrine for 17 yrs; then took different strengths of Ritalin for 21 yrs; and now have been on Provigil for 2 months. I have tried miscellaneous combinations of times & strengths with Provigil and nothing works like the "uppers" did. I hate to admit defeat and go back to Ritalin since it was not perfect either but this drug just is not doing the job. Right now I am taking 300 mg. (400 does not do any better - nor does splitting the dosage times) and then after a 25 min. nap mid-day I take a 5 mg Ritalin.
The 8 hour window of effectiveness of Provigil is more like 4 hours for me - or less if I am not doing something active. The current tendancy out there now is to scare us about taking the more potent drugs - which work better and cost less.
