Suze -

I don't think I ever had insomnia with provigil - or at least not very bad or for more than a day (night?) or so. I do have occassional nights when I don't sleep really well - but I don't think that they are related to the meds.

A couple of thoughts for you - first, since I started taking provigil, I seem to have more problem with restless legs in the evening before I go to bed. I don't know if there is a connection between the two. I started taking medication for restless legs while sleeping (PLMS) before I started on the drugs for narcoplepsy, but very seldom had symptoms before I went to sleep. In fact, I didn't even know I had the problem. Might your insomnia be a sudden occurrance or intensification of PLMS? (I am a real convert when it comes to treating restless legs! It has really helped me a lot.)

Second, I know that a lot of people have mentioned concerns about weight gain on provigil. I have not experienced that myself. However, I do know that I now have trouble sleeping if I eat too much at night. Have your eating patterns changed?

I hope you can find something that works for you. I am so excited and jubuallant (sp?) about the changes in me in the few months since I have been treated for narcolepsy and restless legs that I just want to post huge messages everywhere about how wonderful life is! AT least for today. It won't last - I'll have bad days and get discouraged again, I'm sure. But it is so wonderful right now!

Good luck!

Mary Anne
