Provigil and Weight Gain

Posted by Linda on August 02, 1999 at 20:11:09:

I've been on Provigil 5 months and have gained close to 20 lbs. At a former weight of 110, this is a big percentage gain for me. It also seems to be a metabolic change as I am actually eating less than I was before Provigil and have increased my exercise as well. However, I had been on stimulants for the 5 yrs. previous to taking Provigil and am uncertain if my metabolism shifted during that time due to aging, having a hysterectomy, and/or menopause, and the stimulants were merely masking the change. Or, did the stimulants actually cause my body to become dependent on those drugs to metabolize food properly? I'd like to hear from anyone else taking Provigil who has experienced weight gain. I have seen references to there having been a discussion of weight gain and Provigil in the archives but I could not locate it. Thanks, Linda
