Thanks for your response, Mary Anne. I think it is probable that some of my wt. gain is due to going off the stimulants, but my current wt. is about 10 lbs. heavier than my pre-stimulant wt. (I only took stimulants for the last 5 yrs.), so I still am inclined to think that the Provigil may be a part of it. Of course I have hit menopause over the last 5 yrs. and that, along with estrogen replacement I am taking, could account for the other 10 lbs. I am beginning to adapt to my larger size, but I was having a really hard time at the beginning because it happened so fast. I do believe our culture is crazed about thinness and places undue pressure on women to achieve an unrealistic degree of thinness. I've been vocal in espousing this view in the past, so now I've been forced to put my money where my mouth is and have been chagrined at how difficult that's been! But I seem to be moving into a healthy defiance and have actually bought myself a couple of skirts which are shorter than anything I wore when I was thin. I am determined to feel good about my body whatever its size, and I believe I am getting closer to that. Thanks for the tip about looking at the "Women and Provigil" postings--I checked those and saw some discussion of wt. but no clear linking of wt. gain to Provigil in postings from the archives.
