Yeah, you'd think after being on a stimulant that your daughter would lose weight. But, depression causes weight gain, and Narcoplepsy can definately cause depression. I got N when I was 17, too, and I gained a little weight, but then went on Dexedrine and lost a lot. However, I decreased my dosage over the years of Dexedrine and Ritalin and gained some weight back (now I'm actually on Provigil). However, I also struggle with depression and that often keeps me sedentary (not to mention that the N keeps me sedentary), so it's hard to take weight off. But, even though I've gained some weight, I take Luvox for depression and it works quite nicely with Provigil.
Memory loss: YES. Sometimes I think maybe I'm getting a brain tumor, because I can't remember things worth a darn. However, it's not all the time. One of the follow ups to your post made a good point: I think a good night's sleep makes a difference. Good luck. Tell your daughter to hang in there. I just have to remember sometimes that at least I'm alive. Everybody's got some kind of problem, and I won't let mine get the best of me.
