My daughter is 17 and we found out 9 months ago that she has Narcolepsy. Before that she went through a major depression for about 8 months and was even suicidal. She didn't understand why she was feeling the way she was and it was difficult for her to get others to realize she had a problem. Now the weight gain, the lack of concentration for her school work and tests, the problems in her sports all add to the depression. She is on Prozac and really is doing better in that area. But every now and then I can see where she gets down because she has gone through so much in life and "now this". So I suppose the depression just depends on the person. Her weight gain has a lot to do with her anti-depressants and other medication from what I can gather from everyone else. Just from reading everyone else's comments, it seems that this disease effects everyone differently. Some have all the symptoms, some have a few, some are mild and some are severe. The meds do keep you from having all the attacks and will make some milder. If you are in control without the meds, you are one blessed person!
