ADHD and Narcolepsy, etc.

Posted by Randy on August 18, 1999 at 17:04:53:

I have a formal ADHD diagnosis and have not experience catalepsy, but am most often sleepy unless using stimulant meds. I am wondering if anyone knows of any studies using modafinil for adhd/add. I suspect this question has come up here before but am wondering if there is any updated info on it.

On a related topic, one post I read here stated that serotonin plays no role in ADHD or Narcolepsy. I need to look into this issue further. My current understanding is that neuro-chemistry is still an infant science. And, the more we learn, the more questions arise. The fact that SSRIs show positive clinical impact on some ADHD patients may suggest that serotonin not only plays a role in mood, but also in regulating attention. My sense is that neurotransmitters interact in ways which will remain unknown for many years to come, even with the brightest and best giving the subject full focus.
