Automatic behavior can be a symptom of narcolepsy, but it doesnt have to be. I used to forget miles of roadway, and joked that my car had an autopilot and knew the way home. Sleep paralysis doesnt have to be total - I often cannot move when I first awaken. BTW, I DO have narcolepsy. The only way to be sure is to have the MSLT (multiple sleep latency test). Get your sleep test asap...you'll be surprised how much better you feel.
