My daytime sleepiness rarely coincides with the amount of sleep the night before. Every so often, I cannot sleep but a few hours at night, and invariably the next days I hardly, if at all, need a nap. Then other days I can get 7-10 hours sleep and need 3 naps. Go figure! I worry about your statement about driving. One more nod off could be your last or someone elses. Are you on medication? The last 10 years, I have forced myself to pull off, lock the windows and sleep for a few minutes, and then hit the road again. Or if I am on a drug holiday day, I will still take a dose of Ritalin before I start on a drive, even if I don't feel tired yet. I hope you find a solution, I hear that there is a caffinated gum, and I read an article that drinking coffee is one of the best safeguards for the average person.
