DeeAnn:
I hope if you decide to try Provigil that you will give it a longer period of time than just a few days. My first night or two, I hardly slept, and I heard that was true for others, but that was temporary. I so wanted it to work for me that I was determined to give it a month, so that I could be at peace with at least giving it a decent try. Some found that it worked better with changing the dose or supplementing it with other drugs. Personally, I hated being on it after about two weeks, but I also cannot tolerate any antidepressants. Seems like we all react to drugs so differently. I was first diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia also, because I didn't have cataplexy, and the sleep study was inconclusive. But all the symptoms match narcolepsy and I have since had a couple episodes of cataplexy. My neurologist was willing to treat the symptoms and try various medications to see what worked best. What a difference a considerate doctor makes, huh! Glad you found someone you can trust.
