I feel for you Obsidian. I am sorry that you are having this type of trouble staying awake.

Does your Dr know that you are taking 300 mg of Ritalin? I would be concerned that you might OD. Please don't combine it with other stims (even natural ones) with out letting your Dr know.

Are you in the US? If so, you can take FMLA (family and medical leave act) if you have been employeed for 12 mos and your company is bug enough. FMLA will alow you to take time off with out getting fired, passed over for promotions, etc.

If you have short term disability through your employer, you may be able to get compensated for your time off.

As far as tolerance, many people do build a tolerance to stimulant meds, but I believe that it usually occurs over a period of time. Also, you should be washed off of you meds for about a month before you do the sleep study so that it will give an accurate picture of you in your natural state.

Many people have to try a few different meds before they find one that works for them.

Personally, while I may wory about long term effects of meds, I know that I want to have the best quality of life that I can while I am alive. For me, that means finding the med that is the safest and works the best.
