I'm not really aware that Provigil caused mood swings in my case. It just made me so out of it that it took all my concentration just to keep my concentration. Left me no room to be empathetic or particularly caring, something I'm known for. And I tended to become socially withdrawn.

I think a lot of those things can be explained just because of the sheer exhaustion it caused me. It was if I was not getting any real sleep at nite. Was actively dreaming the whole nite thru, and woke as tired as when I went to bed--night after night. If you consider what that kind of sleep deficit (real or perceived) would do in a normal person, I think you'd find many that would feel as you did.

I will say though that the med that made me feel especially agressive was steriods for inflamed ligaments. The doc didn't warn me but I found my short patience really really short. I imagined myself jumping on the meat counter in a crowded shopping market and screaming Rambo style for everyone to get out of my way. I'm not normally that type of person even when impatient. Yet I kept myself under control the whole time and calmly made my way thru the muddle. So, I may be one who has a pretty good handle on myself, even while on Provigil.
