I've written posts before regarding my opinion of Provigil. I have been taking Provigil for almost 8 months, and it is everything I could have imagined. I have classic N and, from what the doctors have said, I am a pretty severe case. The first few times I took Provigil, 100 mg did the trick. I was very alert and could focus like never before. After a week or so, I needed to up the dosage, which eventually became 400 mg. That's the dosage I have been taking for the last 6 months. I absolutely LOVE this drug. I'll get by with caffeine at work until around 11:00 a.m. Then I'll take 400 mg of Provigil and be set for the rest of the day and evening. Sometimes I'll take a short nap after dinner, and that seems to really re-energize me if dinner made me a little sleepy. One of the side-effects of Provigil is appetite suppression. Hey, I'm not complaining. I went from 200 lbs. to a trim 180 and have maintained that weight for some time. I don't completely lose my appetite, but I could not eat until around dinner time if I chose to. Provigil is going to work a little differently for everybody. However, it seems like so many people completely discard the possibility of it working after just a few days. Give it a chance! It's safer and less addictive than Ritalin. Honest to God, Provigil has changed my life. Since the 5th grade I always fell asleep in just about every class and never had energy. I also have Cataplexy, but Provigil is not intended to cure those symptoms. Cataplexy pretty much sucks, but I'm glad that at least the sleepiness is gone!
