I had to be off caffeine and all meds (ritalin at the time) for one week prior to my sleep study. This was required by my neurologist. Since the sleep study, I have been taking 200 mg Provigil in the morning and 10mg Nortriptyline to help me sleep at night. The Provigil has helped me be alert in the daytime as long as I stay busy but the second I sit down, I am zonked. I also have 5 mg of Ritalin on hand if I need to be alert in the late afternoon/evening. Hope this helps.
