I smoke (and have for 20 years), but am planning on quitting 1 Oct 02 at my doctors strong encouragement. I had quit for about a year and started again (in 2000), I believe my sleepiness increased when I started smoking again. However, I have sleep apnea too and the cigs made my nasal passages all inflamed which caused me to develop a cough (post nasal drip?). Regardless, until I started smoking again, I was not napping on weekends like I am now. The napping was what originally got me to go to the pulmonary doctor - I thought the cigs were making me rundown. I think there is a link, but for me it's more of a link between the smoking and sleep apnea. Who knows? If you find out let us know, meanwhile, I'm preparing for my new life without cigs -- hope I can do it!!
