Have been on Provigil (200-400 mg/day - hardly ever take more than 300) for about 3 yrs. now. I'm doing well on it, better than my 2 previous meds. (ritalin & cylert). Only side effects I've ever had (even first starting out) are occasional dry mouth & an occasional stron smell to my urine. I take 200 mg. about 7 in the AM and if I've gotten decent sleep (7 hrs. or more) for the last few days, I'm good until about 9 or 10. On days when alertness is key (e.g. when I have to drive a long way), I usually take half a tab (100 mg) around mid-day which usually does the trick. Also like the fact that Provigil gives me a very gradual letdown. Cylert was fairly gentle too, but not as gradual a letdown as Provigil. Ritalin, on the other hand, had what somebody on this forum once called the "Cinderella effect" - one minute you're OK and the next minute you're fighting to keep your eyes open and you brain alert.

My $0.02 to this discussion....
