Hi Sleepy-head..
What an awful experience for you, do you feel better now you have shared it with us all?
I can understand (to an extent) how you feel. I have 'wierd' experiences that I put down to N aslo. I don't mention them to anyone else either, for the fear of them thinking I am insane!
I don't suffer from classic catplexy at all, I have a different kind, that at first I didn't think was cataplexy at all.. I can feel my muscles gradually going to sleep and I am still awake.. so I know when to sit down or lie down as I can't fight it. It doesn't happen very often for me, thankfully.
I can also relate to the bit were u said, you are typing away and your legs are asleep. I was watching Tv last night and my whole body was asleep but from the neck up it was awake. It wasn't long (about 30mins) after that I fell asleep. I must have lay there for about an hour asleep, and my boyfriend then tried to wake me up, to put me to bed. I could here him (sleep paralysis) but I couldnt move. my lips were glued together.. he was lifing my hands and shouting my name.. and when he let my hands go they just flopped down. The strangest thing was when he lifted me up a little bit, and I sat forward, still asleep to him, and then he went to put the room light on, so he could get me into bed, when he came back in, I was still half sitting up I had not moved. Even a 'normal' person I think would have great difficulty in sitting in this position for any period of time, but i was like hanging there not moving a muscle, but I must have been using these muscles to just hang there.. It was weird.
I also when asleep can sleep in the strangest positions, Once i woke up and my hand had been bleeding the whole night, when I eventually openened my hand, I had been digging my nails into that palm of my hand probably all night long, (had very long nails) but I hand't felt any pain at all, only immense pain when I woke up and discovered what I had been doing.
I don't know if my information is anything like how your experience was, but remember you are not alone out there.. We all understand, and are here for you..
Take care and sleep well
xxPs.... Ive just woke up from a 17 hour sleep!
