Do I have narcolepsy?

Posted by Julie on November 22, 2002 at 22:17:34:

Hi All:

I've had episodes of sleep paralysis since I was 18, after receiving a head injury. My sleep paralysis episodes have become rather sparse but I still have relapses every now and then, especially when I'm tired or taking a nap (by the way I also get the eletrical sensation with this). I also have problems with frequent daily fatigue. I have also fallen asleep out in public a few times -- people thought I was drunk but each time I didn't drink much (people usually find it funny and take pictures). Oh, and I also notice that I sometimes go right into REM -- in fact, one of the cool things about this is that I've noticed that I continue my dreams from the last dream episode.

Does this sound like narcolepsy to you? If so, how do you get reffered to a sleep clinic and do the meds help?

Thank you very much,

J
