Posted by sleepydog on November 22, 2002 at 23:25:36:I am on Xyrem and that has been fine. Reciently I have switched from Ritalin (metadate) to Provigil. A move I was hesitant to make. The Ritalin gave me such aweful headaches. Provigil is great. I am not as sleepy, but I am also "allowed" to be tired once in a while. Ritalin, whether I was tired or not I was awake. I seem to CRASH really hard on both meds in the early evening. Around 3-4pm. Ritalin gave me headaches but Provigil is doing something REALLY WEIRD! I get these feelings in my extremities. Like over sensitive nerve endings or something. Really it is like the feeling you get from a nail that has broken really deep and it is sensitive. But I get them in my fingers and hands. My pinky has fallen asleep (like it has a pinched nerve) for two days in a row on my left hand for hours at a time in the evening. And most of the time whatever sensation I have will shoot through my body sometimes all the way up to my chest area, by my neck. Im sorry for the bla bla bla, but I feel I am having a hard time describing it adequatly. Anyway, I am not decided on whether this side effect is worse than the headaches, but it makes me wonder what Provigil is doing to my body. Has anyone had similar experiences? Will it go away? Any information on your experiences with the drug would be helpful. I think that this is the first time since I have been diagnosed that I truely feel at a loss. If I tell my doctors that, they will surely think I am fabricating it to get attention. Yet it is truely there. Im puzzled.
