Posted by judoka on March 07, 2003 at 18:07:55:i went to the dr today and tried to tell him that since i have allergies to alot of things that when on wed. someone was eating popcorn next to me. my lungs felt tight, as i went up the stairs i felt like i couldn't breathe and started to hyperventilate. he said since it only happen just that one time and i felt my head itch...he didn't know. but i said i felt like my lungs were cramped up and i would just dose off....meaning i would just relax so much that i felt like i needed to sleep then i would wake myself up. he said that it was serious (i'm nj by the way) and that i would have to take a sleep test that cost $5k. i said that's alot of money i couldn't do it. somehow it went to the point where to my understanding was that he'd have to report me to the dmv b/c of possible narcolepsy. now is this for all diagnosed narcoleptics? or is it just that i was not going to the sleep test? can narcoleptics drive? was he only saying that b/c i was refusing to take a sleep test, he still let me drive....as of now....we're checking to see if i have N. remember i live in nj, driving laws may be different.
