Take heart 2tired2finish. If you see a doctor and get a true diagnosis you can at least know what the problem is and be able to tell family what it is. Also, once you have a diagnosis you may find out it is something very treatable. You don't want to pass up the chance for that, because then you will feel like the years you missed with your kids was all your own fault.

As far as the meds are concerned, I can honestly tell you that they do continue to work for many. I was on a medicatin called cylert for several years and it worked for me. Now I'm on Provigil and it has been working well. For me the only problem is that I'm under a lot of stress physically and mentally by getting back in the work force after being unable to work for over 2 years and I'm now re-entering the real world with work and everything while taking the extra energy needed to do it with a physical disability. With all that the Provigil can't keep up. I'm on 200mg at 6am, 9am, and 12noon or 1pm. It keeps me mostly awake at work and frequently gets me home before I go through the crash of it wearing off. Other times I have to pull off and take a nap in whatever parking lot that's handy or on the side of the road. Obviously, not my preferred sleeping arrangements. Please go see someone and get a sleep study to find out. What if it's a severe case of sleep apnea? That can have similar effects, but is treatable. There are other conditions that aren't sleep disorders that can cause similar problems too. I have had N for many years, but was diagnosed without a sleep study, so now that things are out of control again I'm getting one done. The doctor ordered it at my suggestion. My dad has moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and was recorded as waking 54 times an hour. He went for a sleep study after I explained what I thought was happening and that it is actually possible to die from severe sleep apnea, I've seen him stop breathing for as long as 30 seconds and just as I was getting over to him to wake him he startled and started up again. After that I always kept an ear and an eye out if he was napping in the living room. I wonder if I may have some sleep apnea because of this and how things are going lately. I don't want to find out later that I could have had an easier time of it if I had just insisted on a sleep study!

Please go get help from a medical professional, and if one just brushes it off then go to another and another until someone takes you seriously.

Sorry it's so long.
