Caffeine and Cataplexy

Posted by Kat on March 10, 2003 at 09:00:16:

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and have enjoyed reading through it. I've been diagnosed with narcolepsy and cataplexy for about a year now. Like a lot of you I enjoy/need caffeine to get me going but it seems to make my cataplexy worse especially if I have too much. A few hours after having it I'll feel jittery and then weak all over. I'll have to lay down and can't do any physical activity. I'm wondering if this is just a reaction to caffeine or if it's a form of cataplexy.

Thank you
