Narcolepsy doctor refuses stimulant

Posted by Pat in California on March 10, 2003 at 19:18:38:

I have IH but doctor is saying N so I can get into xyrem prescription. I asked for a stijmulat as I have tried one and it helps some but he refused saying long term effects cause hypertension.

Since I am so sleepy and eating so much and gaining weight it is very upsetting.

I asked about wellbutrin but got no response as anything that might help would help.

I guess I will wait until I get the xyrem and ask my old sleep doctor about taking over the xyrem and prescribing something for daytime sleepiness. He say that they are addicting but that seems moot if you need them.

Provigil does not work for me unfortunately as I had tried it several times.
