Some of you were interested in temperature/narcolepsy stuff a while back. Every few months I do a search for the newest narcolepsy publications, and some interesting stuff turned up. There is definately a link between wake/sleep and body temperature. I am having trouble finding an abstract for just plain old sleep deprivation and temp., but when I find somehting, I will post that too.
--Provigil has been shown to elevate resting core temperature. Aviation Space & Environmental Medicine. 73(11):1079-88, 2002 Nov.
"Sleep deprivation (SD) induces many adverse psychological and physiological effects, particularly on vigilance and the thermoregulatory system. The drug modafinil appears to suppress or diminish the harmful effects on vigilance. However, the effects of modafinil combined with SD on the circadian rhythm of core temperature are not well established. ..The observed changes may reflect a threshold for the central action of modafinil on core temperature. The hyperthermic effect reported in the literature for SD with modafinil may actually result from the sleep deprivation alone."
