I haven't posted for a looong time (I think my last post is in Forum *5*), but I check in periodically. The support group here is so wonderful and it is so nice to know that there are people like me out there.... somewhere... :)
Anyway, I have been receiving treatment for Narcolepsy since 1999. I've had problems with EDS however, since about 1994. My specialist tells me I have "a-typical" cataplexy (buckling knees, displaced jaw) and that full blown cataplexy may or may not assert itself in the future. For the past 2 years, I have been taking Ritalin for EDS. In that time, I've noticed that I periodically develop a weak feeling in my legs. This feeling does not accompany an emotional response.
In my searches of the Narcolepsy forums this evening, I came across "hypotonia" and I'm wondering if anyone could offer me a detailed explanation of what they think it is? I'm not sure if my muscle weakness is attributed to being on Ritalin, or if I am experiencing hypotonia? If so, should I expect full-blown cataplectic attacks in the future?
Thanks in advance for any responses. :)
