Just to further clarify.... FML is not the same as paid disability. The two can run concurrently, but are not the same. If you do not have any paid time off to use (vacation, sick days, etc) you still are allowed to take off up to 12 wks (I think) under the FMLA. If you don't have paid time to cover your absence though, you just don't get paid. Don't want someone to jump at the chance to take the FML and then realize they have no paycheck while on it.
