Congratulations. I'm in the same boat, just with a different medicine (or life jacket, he he he). I haven't found anything more informative than what's on this site. I have generally wondered if this is just a variant of N. I know all those with N would disagree with me on that one.

The only symptom I lack is the cataplexy, and that I didn't go into REM in my MSLT naps. I did; however, go into REM within 6 min. on the overnight portion of the sleep study and I apparently stay there quite a bit more than average percentage wise. The upper norm is about 20% of the night in REM and mine is around 37%. I did find out that I can run my heart rate up to 150 while sleeping. AHA! Guess I got my aerobic workout in for the day (night?).

In the end, both N and IH are essentially treated the same medically. They treat the symptoms on an individual basis because that's all they can do.

Do the best you can. Keep on the look out for information, and let us know if you find anything out because that's how we educate each other. ALWAYS be your own advocate, because no one is going to do it for you. Lastly, don't be afraid to ask questions... you hired the doctor and you can go hire a different one if this one doesn't work out. Naturally, that doesn't mean just because they tell you something you don't want to hear you go and chuck the person. Take care of yourself and let us know how things go.
