I repeat, there is no blood test for N. 25% of the normal population will test postive. It is not a yes or no, all it means is maybe or maybe not. Most docs don't waste money anymore doing the test because it is not going to help in the diagnosis.
The only test that can yes or no for narcolepsy is a spinal fluid test looking at Hypocretin. Search the web. It can been done for free, but the only place doing it is Stanford University, research protocol, and there is a huge backup of spinal fluid to analyse. So until there is a standard spinal fluid test system on the market it will be hard to get.
You do not need to desaturate in oxygen to have sleep apnea. Many people don't and one of the criteria for Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome is that you don't desaturate in oxygen. It can cause even worse sleepiness than full blown apnea. (If that is all you had for a sleep test is a oxygen monitor, it is not a sleep test and the AASM will not accept as one either.)
It seems you have made your mind up and will probably disreguard this.
