In my case I couldn't not get further help because eventually things will be unforgiving at work because you are so tired and not as productive that it could result in being put on probation or being fired since the company doesn't know about the problems. If they do know they have to allow you consessions.
The company I worked for would have done anything to keep an employee from taking disability leave.
In my situation I was able to get treatment and medicine started without missing too much work and it changed my life. I don't know how I was living before. I was completely in a fog.
However, depending on which state you are in if you are diagnosed with N then your doctor I believe has to report it to DOT and they will suspend your license. I will offer this advice though make sure you are in a job you want to stay with for the long haul before you get anything major documented as existing conditions. I left my job about 3 months ago to be self employed and no one will cover me with insurance. Medications are very expensive. I believe that sleep apnea causes episodes of falling asleep during the day because you are so sleep deprived. I think you'll see once you talk to family and friends about your fears that you will have a huge outreach of people trying to help you.
