Yes, I've been told the same thing about N and individual health insurance. It may have been possible to have kept your employer's insurance thru COBRA. Probably too late now, but might be worth talking to someone about.

In my state I know there is an insurance that a person can get thru the state, which is for catastrophic illnesses that other companies won't cover. N was lumped right in w/ terminal cancer and congestive heart failure. Like it's gonna kill me?

Medicaid, to my knowledge will not pay for prescriptions, and in Indiana anyway, you have to be down to your last $1,500 before you can even apply for that. I mean, assets, cash, life insurance, all together totaling that amt.

You need to start making phone calls. The state Dept of Insur will help direct you. Social Services might also point you to programs to check out.

Filing for disability is only for if you are unable to work in all fields, to make a living. From what I have seen on these boards, it is not an easy thing to get Soc Sec Dis by having N. Takes 2 or 3 yrs of trying in most cases. And, when I do get approved for it, I will only be getting $800 a month to live off of.

Hope you find some answers that work for you. Don't give up.
