I have been on Provigil for 4 years now, and I take 500mg per day. So I have two different prescriptions, one for 60 200mg tablets per month, and one for 30 100mg tablets per month.
I take one dose of 200 or 300mg in the morning around 6:30am, and the second around 1:30. I even supplement that with Caffeine tablets when I have a very late schedule.
I've found that if I take the afternoon dose after 4pm, I don't want to go to bed until 11 or 12pm, and I get up at 5 am to go to work, so I should be sleeping by 9pm. (Never happens.) Usually I go to bed by 10 though.
My doctor had me take a liver analysis test to check and make sure that the medicine was ok at that dose, and my tests came up just fine.
But I'm still a bit groggy, I feel like I could always take a nap. Its under control, I just don't have energy or motivation. (I don't have cataplexy, thank the good Lord.)
I was thinking about asking the Dr. to try Ritalin, to see if I'd feel more awake. Maybe another medicine would be more effective at lower doses.
But I'm worried about that heart-racing feeling and making my stomach queasy. I've never had side-effects with Provigil, I've only felt those feelings with too much caffeine. Does Ritalin always feel like that?
