I think I would have to disagree w/ most of your theory on Provigil. Based on my own terrible experience and having followed numorous message boards for four years, reading of others' experiences on Provigil.

First, it caused major insomnia for me. Not only could I not wind down to sleep at night, I wasn't really awake during the day on it. Eyes may have been open (I don't know how many microsleeps I had on it) but my mind was in a fog, distant and unrelated to my body most of the time. It had nothing to do w/ frame of mind. It just plain did not work.

I firmly believe that it causes severe sleep deprivation which explains most, if not all, of the symptoms I had on it.

You and I must not be reading the same things written on Provigil.
