I have been on 400mg Provigil since March. At first, I felt like I was a little more awake, but then I started adjusting and getting sleepy again. I researched alternatives and discovered all the people that were depressed on it. It was a big shock and a wake-up call. I have been through hell and back throughout my life and I have never felt depressed. I just go with the flow and move on. BUT... for the last 3 months, I haven't wanted to leave the house, take a shower, visit friends/family *including an uncle who is dying of cancer and lives 2 minutes away. I would start crying in my office for no reason. My poor office-mate would ask what was wrong and I just didn't know.

Well, I called my PCP who took over the prescription when the psychiatrist said I was fine. I told him that I needed an appointment immediately *actually, this was because I also found out that the Provigil counteracted my DepoPrevera. The Psych. never mentioned that either even though I told her on was on it.

He prescribed Adderall. I've had to up the amount twice, but my mood has changed for the better. I have never had side effects from any meds, but Provigil hit me hard. You might want to consider trying something different because if she is feeling anything like I did, she needs help.

Good luck,
Michele
