Provigil without insurance?

Posted by needtosleep on January 20, 2004 at 07:36:25:

I've been taking Provigil for over a year now. Few side effects, less sleepiness. Overall, it seems to be working for me.

But the health insurance my husband's new job offers doesn't cover it. All the company could say is "There must be something that works as well for it to be excluded," which seems like a total cop-out. The only other suggestion they gave me was to have my doctor fill out a bunch o' forms to try to get a waiver.

Since the Provigil is working so well for me, my doctor is leery of trying to switch me onto something else (I often have weird reactions to meds).

I'm wondering - how much is Provigil without insurance?
