So far, nothing has been found to make the Hypocretin cross the blood brain barrier. So the only possibility is direct inter cranial injection. It is my feeling (mine only, no back up on this) that someone is going to try or has tried this on a dog.

The Stanford site lists several current papers and abstracts on this subject. They have the target area, and know that flooding will work as well as specific dosage, meaning that the dose doesn't have to be placed precisely. It is of great intrest, but will be some time before human trials are ready, I'm afraid.
