Hi---I experience the same thing with Desoxyn. I figured there was something very very wrong with me if I can take meth and still fall asleep! My husband takes Provigil for ADD and there are times when it does not work for him at all either. He will go off it for a couple of torturous days and then when the migraine is more than he can handle he will go back on---it seems to reset for him. But for me---nothing works.
I was Dxd with Cataplexy when I was only 5 yrs old way back in the late 60's when the treatment was a doctor mixing up powders in his office for me--dexedrine is my guess. Been on provigil---did not work at all from the start, and made my C worse--and ritalin and adderall and all the rest since then. Desoxyn is the only thing that even works part time. And the side effects usually make me stop it and suffer for a few months until I end up taking it again just to survive.
My theory is that people who may be hyperactive or have ADD/ADHD have the opposite reaction to stimulants at times. My mother used to put me to sleep as a colicky baby with a spoonful of coffee!
I have talked to the pharm co. that makes provigil--forget the name right off hand--but they are pretty good at helping you---look it up online--it is an 800 number. Ask your doctor. But I have heard of alot of people who benefit from a drug holiday with provigil.
