Hi,

It definitely does sound like you have N ... but I would definitely go get a sleep test and see a specialist.

I can't help but feel angry that a doctor would prescribe you Provigil without diagnosis. He might know or a thing or two about N, but as a professional he didn't do the right thing. Doctors are prescribing provigil likes its candy or that it will answer all of your sleepy probs. Thats such crap.

Anyways, I was on provigil and I didn't like it. It didn't give me the alertness that I needed. I went back to Ritalin, which is a stronger stimulant and works better for me. When I first started Ritalin, it took me a good 3 months to be really use to it and come back to a somewhat normal self. Either you live with the N or you live with the side-effects... or you find some kind of nice balance between the two. There is no cure for N. Anyways, I am PWN w/o C but if I understand it, C is when your muscles grow weak after a fit of laughter or strong emotion. You can still collapse while standing just from falling asleep but thats not called N. People show varying levels of N.

Also, by taking the sleep test you can see if you have any other sleep disorders. For example, if you have restless leg syndrome (which most ppl don't even know) which causes daytime sleepiness then Xyrem could be your answer and not Provigil.

One other thing, did you do any bloodwork? Thyroid problems have very similar symptoms to N. And thats a definite thing that you want to check on....

Good luck and I hope you find a different doctor!
