Finally on verge of diagnosis

Posted by sleepygirl on November 29, 2004 at 16:21:37:

I have been reading this forum for months and have gotten a lot of good information. I am certain I have narcolepsy, and I have gotten nowhere with my family doctor. She sent me for an apnea test and a separate MSLT which was inconclusive, and has had me on a slew of different drugs. After pushing her, I finally got an appointment with the Sleep Disorder Clinic at the Hershey Med Center. As it turns out, my tests were done improperly, and I should have not been on Prozac at the time of the tests as Prozac decreases REM sleep and will obviously alter the test results. The specialist is almost positive I have narcolepsy, and is going to be scheduling her own sleep study at her lab. So, my message to all is to see a specialist - no matter how hard you have to push your doctor. And, my question is, since I have to be off all meds, including my Concerta, to get it out of my system until the sleep study, how am I going to survive??
