Wow sounds vey familiar! I have been diagnoed for about 3 years with N and tried both Provigil and Ritalin. I have had the same rapid heartbeat experience a few months ago. I was taken to the ER and given a beta blocker (Lopressor) to slow down the heart beat. I now see my N doctor and a cardiologist adn all of it is very confusing, the rapid heart rate actually wakes me up! However the down fall is worse than ever. The beta blockers make me very tired so i take them before bed but it makes it harder than ever in the mornings! I am still on 60 mg Ritalin and the Lopressor.
I think long term use if these stimulants can do a lot to a persons body but its difficult when you dont have a choice :/
My opinion in your case is that you need to see a heart doc along with the N doc, and maybe they can come to some conclusion about the meds. I dont have any other choice than to sty on ritalin because my insurance will not cover provigil. I tried adderall but I had an allergic reaction for some reason??
Good luck and please keep the rest of us updated :D
