It sounds like you're experiencing auditory processing problems,
which I have never heard of as a component of narcolepsy.
However, when we are tired, it exacerbates weaknesses we
already have. My son has had auditory processing problems
since he was very small, and it is definitely worse when he is
tired. Check on speech therapy sites for more info on auditory
processing. Also, my son always watches TV and movies with
the captions on. It helps a lot.

(He does not have N.) I have found that I now have difficulty
recalling names and proper nouns, which I never had before, but
I believe it is age and fatigue related, not directly N, which I've
probably had for decades.
