Posted by tiredandconfused on August 08, 2005 at 17:12:56:For the last ten years I have had an ongoing problem with staying awake during the day. Strong urge to nap and then when I do, I wake up refreshed only to find a few hours latter am getting tired again. However at the time I figured it was due to allergy medication or sleep depervation. During this time I experienced several episodes of sleep paralysis with hallucinations and had trouble staying awake while driving. Even had a few trips where I could not remember driving the whole way. While not stopping completely I learned to deal with the tiredness and was fine for several years. Now in the last year and half I have gone thru a 10k workup trying to explain my new symptoms. For several months I could not support my weight in my right leg and would limp around and had a tremor in my right arm when I tried to use it. In addiation my fatigue has increased. I went thru all of the tests for MS and saw three different neurologists and none of them new what to make of it or even that I had a real problem. All conviced that I do not have MS. I have finally gotten my primary doctor to write my insurance company for permission to order a sleep study and am waiting to hear back. I am concerned that the next doctor is not going to take me seriously since the last three did not and all of the sleeping and exhaustion has caused a lot of problems for me with my girlfriend and work. Lack of memory, short temper, etc. Sorry for being so long winded but does any of this sound familar to anyone. I am not sure that my muscle weakness could be cataplexy becasue of how long it lasted but I was sure emotionily stressed that whole time. Also had vision trouble then as well. If anyone can help I would like to know if this maybe narcolepsy. Thanks
