Ya, I have dealt with this same issue and basically I have approached it in the same manner as yourself. I never even considered asking my former employer for reasonable accomidations because of the seem fears you expressed.

One question I'd like to ask you concerning your ADD. Did the doctor/s rule out that it wasn't your narcolepsy or the effects of sleep deprivation that were causing you to experience symptoms that look like ADD? Because anybody who can't stay awake or pay attention due to extrem fatique could easily be seen as having ADD when the real problem may be due to their narcolepsy.
