Starting Provigil Soon

Posted by Whidbey Man on September 03, 2005 at 09:04:27:

I've always been interested in reading posts about provigil but just from an observers point of view. Over the past 15 yers I've tried most of the CNS stimulants with maily disasterous results - violent temper outbursts, confusion, increased pulse, memory problems worse. And they didn't help my EDS. Now that I have a pacemaker in and am on meds to control my heart rate I'm going to give Provigil one try. My doc has ordered 200mg/day x 1 week and 300 mg/day for another week and then see how it goes. I have some concerns. Sometimes when we heart meds are less effective my pulse goes to 140-150 and stays there for 24 hrs or more. Can provigil cause increased heart rate? I already have short term memory and confusion problems. Can provigil make this worse? The reason I'm even trying it is that my sleep doc thinks it could help the IH sleepiness and I think that if I don't try it then I should stop going to him (16 years he has helped me a lot). Anyhow are there any problems I should be looking for when I start it or perhaps just take it and see how it goes? Tom
