What you say about your days..."I think I've just done a really good job (at work) at acting
normal when In fact I have been fighting sinking feelings, drinking coffee all day, and could not wait to just come home and crawl into my cave. But as tired as I do get, I also have some
tensions keeping me awake, as exhausted as am I will fall asleep but wake up late, and the battle will begin" sounds like me a many years ago. At that time I was diagnosed as depressed. Counsiling got me straigten out fairly quickly.

When I started having problems again in the late 90s, that was one of the first things my doctor wanted checked out. Was I "simply" depressed? To me there is a chicken or egg question - yes, you can be having sleep problems because you're depressed but you could easily be depressed becuase you're having sleep problems. In the end she sent me to a sleep specialist and here I am.

That said, if you're experiencing HH and sleep paralysis, then narcolepsy is an avenue that probably should be explored.
