Provigil - Long Term Problems?

Posted by billp46 on September 16, 2005 at 11:38:35:

This may be a repeat but I'm a newbie so please bear with me.

I've been on Provigil for about six months at a dosage of 100mg two times a day. Initially, it was great. I was alert and able to concentrate all day. Occasionally, I'd feel a sleepy spell coming on but was easily able to control it. I really was not aware of any side effects.

Over the last week or two, that's changed. The effect from each dose seems to last only about three hours and it is much harder to deal with a heavy-duty sleep attack. And some of the side effects, particlarly those realted to the digestive system, ringing in the ears, and memory problems are more now pronounced.

Has anyone else experienced this decrease in effectiveness over time?

I seem to recall reading some place that the clinical trial for Provigil was only 9 weeks. If that's so it makes me a little concerned about the long term effects of continous use.
